Marguerite Rose
Devon's Sustainable Flower Farmer Florist

FOUNDED IN 2021

Beginnings

In the heart of Devon's rolling countryside, Marguerite Rose's story began with nothing more than a patch of earth and love for gardening. Armed with only hand tools and determination, she transformed bare land into what would become one of Devon's most thoughtful flower farms.

“Marguerite’s Acre”

With unwavering determination and a limited budget, she built this thriving farm from the ground up. From hand-digging the very first flower borders to constructing her own greenhouses, Marguerite has poured her heart and soul into every aspect of the farm.

Her initial inspiration stemmed from a desire to create a haven for the local wildlife, particularly the bees and insects that rely on flowers for survival. As her passion for growing flourished, so did her understanding of the intricate ecosystems at play. She began experimenting with diverse flower species, always prioritising nature and sustainability.

Marguerite's values

Growing with purpose

Marguerite Rose started growing flowers because she wanted to help the bees and butterflies that were struggling in her corner of Devon. What began as concern for local wildlife turned into something she genuinely loves—working with the seasons, growing what thrives naturally here, and creating bouquets from flowers she’s watched grow from seed.

She only uses what she grows herself, not because it sounds good, but because she knows exactly how each flower was treated. No chemicals, no forcing blooms out of season, no flowers flown in from elsewhere. Just honest growing, honest work, and flowers that reflect what’s actually happening in her fields each month.

It’s simple really—Marguerite grows flowers the way she thinks they should be grown, for the wildlife that needs them and the people who love them.

Quality from the ground up

Marguerite Rose believes the finest flowers come from the finest conditions. She measures quality by the health of the ecosystem and the abundance of wildlife it supports, knowing that this approach creates the healthiest and most beautiful blooms.

Marguerite Rose is forever evolving in harmony with the Devon landscape she calls home. Her recent expansion into a new growing field marks an exciting chapter in her story, especially as she's partnered with a local honey producer to create a truly symbiotic relationship. While her flowers provide rich foraging for their bees throughout the growing season, these industrious pollinators enhance her blooms' quality and yield through their vital work. This collaboration represents exactly the kind of natural partnership she seeks—one where both businesses thrive while supporting the delicate ecosystems they depend upon. Of course, Marguerite also gets some excellent honey out of the deal, along with the occasional bee sting to keep her humble.
